POWAY (CBS 8) - A student was rescued after a near-drowning at Poway High School Tuesday.
According to Poway fire officials, a 14-year-old male student was in noticeable distress as he was swimming during P.E. class. A lifeguard on the scene jumped into the water and assisted the teen to the side of the pool. The victim was conscious as he was being helped out of the water, according to the principal of Poway High School.
Paramedics were summoned to Poway High, and the teen was transported to Children's Hospital to be examined. He is expected to be okay, according to fire officials.
He reportedly has a history of seizures and was being monitored by faculty while at the pool.
He was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The student's condition was unknown.
