OCEANSIDE (CBS 8) - New information has been released about a deadly Christmas Day shooting in Oceanside.
Residents in the Oceanside neighborhood are still trying to figure out why an argument between two men ended tragically in the early morning hours of Christmas Day.
Police responded to a call of shots fired around 3 a.m. and found 44-year old Jimmy Misaalefua on the floor of this garage with the alleged gunman, 47-year old Rober Pulley.
Larry Barry - head of the neighborhood watch - spoke with both men the day before the shooting. Barry also visited Pulley's home and says his friend of 15 years was dealing with discouraging news.
"They laid him off on Thursday he was just going crazy on that," he said. "He filed for the first time for unemployment, I think this was a lot of stuff building."
Barry continued to say that Misaalefua, along with some relatives, walked over Pulley's house early Saturday morning to complain about the noise and that's when a scuffle ensued.
"Said ‘hey I want to show you something,' walked into the garage and pulled out his 9mm and then they fought and they went down," Barry explained.
Misaalefua was taken to a hospital, but died a short time later.
Pulley was booked into the Vista Detention Center, where authorities say he will be charged with murder.
