LA JOLLA (CNS) - The bulk of graduation ceremonies for individual schools at UC San Diego will take place Saturday and Sunday, with more than 7,500 students receiving diplomas.
Actor and comedian David Allen Grier will speak to about 1,000 graduates of Thurgood Marshall College at today's commencement ceremonies.
Other speakers over the weekend include Rep. Bob Filner, D-San Diego, who is giving up his seat to run for mayor of San Diego and Connie Mariano, a 1977 UCSD grad who became the personal physician for three presidents.
The Rady School of Management will hold ceremonies for 65 graduates next weekend. Medical and Pharmacy students have already graduated.
Commencement brings an end to UCSD's 50th anniversary year.
