RAMONA (CBS 8) - A suspicious death in Ramona turned into a homicide investigation Tuesday night after detectives found signs of trauma on a woman found dead in her mobile home.
Medics were checking on the welfare of an elderly woman at a mobile home park in the 1200-block of H Street around 11:30 a.m., according to sheriff's officials.
"Due to obvious signs of trauma on the body, the paramedics exited the mobile home and requested sheriff's deputies," Lt. Larry Nesbit said. He declined to elaborate on the nature of the injuries.
A family member of the victim confirmed to the San Diego Union-Tribune that the victim was 94-year-old Jean Eskridge, a former dance instructor. According to her Facebook page, Eskridge's daughter runs a dance studio in Spring Valley, that was founded by her mother.
Lt. Nesbit says patrol personnel looked over the crime scene, then called in homicide detectives. But it's still unclear how authorities were originally notified about the death.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Crime Stoppers 888-580-8477.
