SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - It was an emotional day of solidarity and support at La Costa Meadows Elementary School, where seven staffers are battling cancer.
Decked out in pink to honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month, 28 students, parents and teachers all lined up to donate their hair to Locks of Love.
The idea started with one teacher and it grew into Friday's big event.
"This has been a wonderful cause. I'm so excited to share this with everybody. And I want it to spread across to every school that we can do this. Because every child can do something and make it positive and put a smile on somebody's face with just some hair," teacher and participant Renee Mone said.
They hope to make this an annual event.
