Local Jewish Federation hosts Holocaust commemoration

The city of San Diego played host Sunday to the nation's largest community Holocaust commemoration.

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The city of San Diego played host Sunday to the nation's largest community Holocaust commemoration.

Hundreds of people attended the free program at the Jewish Federation of San Diego County.

The theme of Sunday's event was "Remember, Honor, and Teach: Children of the Holocaust," and featured stories from young survivors.

News 8 talked to a young attendee whose grandfather was one of the hidden children who survived the Holocaust.

"The fact that my family lived through it and we have to keep the history going passed down so everyone remembers and nobody forgets so that it won't happen again," said Amanda Kucinski. "It makes me feel bad for the other people who suffered through that and it makes me feel grateful for what I have."

The Holocaust commemoration has been held in San Diego for more than three decades.
