SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on state Route 94 in the city's Golden Hill neighborhood Saturday, a CHP dispatcher said.
The fatal hit-and-run occurred at 1:32 a.m. as a pedestrian walked facing traffic in the freeway's westbound lanes, approaching 25th Street.
"The pedestrian was walking in the traffic lane of the freeway, presenting a traffic hazard, and was struck by an unknown passing vehicle," the dispatcher said.
"The pedestrian sustained fatal injuries. After the collision, the driver fled the scene."
The CHP dispatcher said alcohol or drug use may have been a contributing factor. The CHP was continuing its investigation.
