CARLSBAD (CNS) - Actress Elizabeth Banks will be the guest of honor at Legoland California's 11th annual holiday tree-lighting ceremony on Thursday in Carlsbad, the theme park announced Tuesday.
Banks, who lends her voice talent to "The Lego Movie," a 3D animated feature due in theaters next year, will help light what's billed as the world's largest Lego Christmas tree at 5:30 p.m.
Legoland plans to donate $10,000 on Banks' behalf to LA's BEST, an after-school care and recreation program for elementary school children in Los Angeles.
The 30-foot-tall Christmas tree that will be lit was created out of more than 245,000 forest green Duplo bricks and is adorned with more than 400 Lego ornaments. More than 11,000 lights illuminate the tree, located in the park's Fun Town area.
Banks plays Effie Trinket in the "The Hunger Games" and "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire."
