DEL MAR (CBS 8) - Another horse was euthanized at Del Mar following an injury on the new turf track at the Thoroughbred Club.
The 4-year-old filly named "Serious" was running in a 5 furlong turf sprint two weeks ago when she injured her front legs.
Owners were originally optimistic but Serious took a turn for the worse.
The turf course was shut down to racing and training for eight days following the injury. Del Mar then announced it wouldn't run anymore turf sprints this meet.
This is the fifth thoroughbred to die as a result of an injury on Del Mar's new turf course and the 12th overall to die since racing began on July 17.
