SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The Grant Hill community celebrated the opening of a new middle school with a ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday.
The Albert Einstein Academy is a public charter school. About 500 students are expected to attend classes when they begin September 2.
Administrators say the school's curriculum focuses on a well-rounded approach to education with an emphasis on foreign languages, service to the community and critical thinking.
"It's less about telling our students what to think and more about guiding our students how to think so they can use those skills throughout their lifetime," executive director David Sciarretta said.
The Albert Einstein Academy also runs an elementary school in San Diego's South Park neighborhood.
