SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A North County man is dead after a scuba diving mishap in Mission Bay. Authorities responded to a call of a diver in distress Wednesday night.
The victim, identified as 38-year-old Jeffrey Logandro, and his friends were reportedly looking for lobster when something went wrong.
The distress call was sent to lifeguards at 7:05 p.m., San Diego Police Department Officer Dino Delimitros said. The station said lifeguards had difficulty getting the diver from the water because of the heavy equipment he was wearing.
Logandro, who lived in Carlsbad, was eventually pulled from the water and transported to a hospital. He was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
