SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The San Diego Zoo Safari Park and the U.S. Postal Service are teaming up to raise money and awareness for the conservation of wild animals.

This weekend, the park is selling special Save Vanishing Species pictorial stamps featuring an Amur tiger cub.

The public can purchase stamps at the tiger exhibit, and a portion of the proceeds will go to a conservation fund that protects wild populations of tigers and other species. The zoo will also provide cancellations of the stamps for those who want to preserve them.

"The zoo Safari Park is our honorary post office for the weekend so we'll have the dates of the weekend stamped on there, along with some nice envelopes and things that the animal park is providing for us," Shawn Zarkoski of the USPS said.

According to the USPS, $2.5 million in tiger stamps have been sold since 2011.
