SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A Carlsbad man was behind bars Thursday on suspicion of sexually assaulting two 7-year-old girls repeatedly at his home, and his girlfriend also was in custody for allegedly furnishing him with the children and videotaping the crimes.
Samuel Cabrera Jr. and Escondido resident Brittney Mae Lyon, both 22, were taken into custody on Wednesday, a day after one of the girls told her parents about the alleged crimes, authorities said.
The suspects were booked into county jail on charges of committing lewd acts on a child under age 14 -- Lyon a single count of the offense, and Cabrera a total of 23 -- and a single count each of conspiracy. Lyon also was expected to face an allegation of using minors in the production of obscene materials.
On multiple occasions over the last several months, Lyon took the two girls, whom she had been hired to babysit, to Cabrera's residence in the 6300 block of Greenhaven Drive, where the crimes allegedly occurred, Lt. Chris Boyd said.
It was not immediately clear if the suspects had disseminated any images of the alleged sex assaults online, the lieutenant said.
Lyon and Cabrera were being held on bail of $100,000 and $2.56 million, respectively, pending arraignment, expected Friday afternoon.
Investigators believe there may be more alleged victims in the case, the lieutenant said. Anyone with information about any such crimes was asked to call (760) 931-2293.
