SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The search continued Tuesday for a man who followed a woman to her University City apartment, then robbed, beat and sexually assaulted her.
The victim, who is in her 20s, had been dropped off by a friend and was walking through a parking structure near her residence at The Venetian on Nobel Drive near Regents Road when she noticed a man she did not know following her about 10:30 p.m. Saturday, according to San Diego police and Crime Stoppers.
As she was unlocking her apartment door, the suspect knocked her to the ground, pulled a pistol and told her to give him money. After the victim handed over some cash, the thief choked her and pushed her into her apartment, where he then battered and sexually assaulted her before fleeing, authorities said.
The woman suffered facial fractures and other injuries that required hospitalization, according to police.
The suspect was described as black, 25 to 30 years old, roughly 5 feet 10 and 180 pounds with a medium or athletic build, short black hair and a short beard. He was wearing gray shorts with red stripes down the sides, a gray hooded sweatshirt and black sneakers, and was carrying a black backpack.
