SANTEE (CNS) - Authorities Friday publicly identified a 67-year-old woman fatally struck by a car as she attempted to cross a street near Padre Dam Park in Santee.
Mary Elizabeth Gary of Santee was struck by a westbound 2006 Cadillac CTS as she was walking across Mission Gorge Road at the intersection with First Street shortly after 9:30 a.m. Thursday, according to the county sheriff's department and the medical examiner's office. The intersection does not have a marked crosswalk.
Paramedics took Gary to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego, where she was pronounced dead about 40 minutes after the crash, authorities said.
The 82-year-old woman behind the wheel of the Cadillac was not hurt and was not suspected of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, sheriff's officials said.
