SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A person was found dead Wednesday on a rocky stretch of ocean shoreline in the Sunset Cliffs area.
Lifeguards responding to a report of someone stuck on a sea bluff near the foot of Point Loma Avenue found the body, described only as female, shortly after 2:30 p.m., according to San Diego police and fire officials.
Residents in the area tell News 8 that they believe the same woman, who appeared pregnant, was seen walking in the area on Tuesday.
First-responders rappelled down to the area and determined the woman was dead. A crane was used to lift the body up. A purse was found next to her body.
The identity of the deceased and details on the circumstances of the fatality were not immediately available. Police said they cannot yet determine if drugs or alcohol played a role in the woman's death.
A medical examiner will determine the woman's cause of death and identity, and notify her next of kin.
