Fall home updates

This is the perfect time to get your home ready for the busy season ahead, and think about home maintenance projects that perhaps you put off over the summer.

SAN DIEGO - Fall is here! And that means the holidays are coming and so are the guests.

This is the perfect time to get your home ready for the busy season ahead, and think about home maintenance projects that perhaps you put off over the summer.

Not sure where to start? Home improvement and lifestyle expert Katheryn Emery of KEPR Inc., recommends these projects:

  • Be Prepared For Drain Clogs, Leaks & Odor: You don’t think about it until it has happened, but drain clogs, leaks and unpleasant odors are three things never welcome at home, especially with a house full of guests at the holidays.
  • Add New Life to Home: Update cabinet hardware – the easiest way to update the look of the most visited rooms in the house are by updating the cabinet hardware.
  • Get the Yard Ready: Fall is a great reminder to cut back dead growth, to allow for new growth on trees, shrubs. And remove dead leaves before the rain starts from the lawn.
  • Plant Now For Later: Now is time to feed and take care of your lawn. Feeding in early fall helps your lawn begin rebuilding grass roots that were damaged during the hot, dry summer. Now is the time to fix bare spots in the lawn, and fall is a great time to seed
