NATIONAL CITY (CNS) - A car fire briefly caused a traffic jam on Route 54 in National City on Sunday.
Shortly after 11 a.m., dispatchers were told flames were beginning to come from underneath a gray SUV parked in the left shoulder of eastbound Route 54 near National City Boulevard, according to a California Highway Patrol officers.
Firefighters headed to the scene, and the left lane of the freeway was closed while they worked, backing up traffic to Interstate 5.
The fire was out and lanes had been reopened by about 11:30 a.m., according to the CHP.
There was no information on whether anyone was in the vehicle when the fire was reported.
