SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A fire damaged a Rancho Bernardo home and displaced two people and a dog Sunday, a fire official said.

The fire started just after 11 a.m. in the garage of a home on Avenida Nobleza, in a neighborhood between Bernardo Heights Parkway and Interstate 15, according to information from the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.

By the time firefighters got to the home, the garage was fully engulfed in flames and was also spreading to an attic area, according to Battalion Chief Rick Ballard.

After an extended battle with the flames, crews were able to start clearing the scene around 1 p.m.

No one was injured.

The Red Cross was helping to find shelter for the two people who lived at the house, as well as their dog, Ballard said.

Investigators were working to determine the cause of the fire. A damage estimate wasn't immediately available.
