Chula Vista Starlight Parade and Festival returns this weekend

It's one of the South Bay's most beloved festive traditions and it returns to Downtown Chula Vista on Dec. 3 after a three-year hiatus.

CHULA VISTA, Calif. — One of the South Bay’s most beloved holiday traditions, the Chula Vista Starlight Parade and Festival, is returning this weekend.

After a three-year hiatus, Downtown Chula Vista will come alive on Dec. 3 with the Starlight Festival, tree lighting and stunning Starlight Parade.

More than 140 festive floats, classic cars, marching bands and dance teams will march down Downtown Third Avenue between H and E Streets. 

Due to growing interest and demand, organizers said this year’s parade is expected to run longer than previous years.

What you need to know

Starlight Parade 

Starting at 6 p.m., The Starlight Parade will take over Downtown Chula Vista featuring hundreds of holiday floats and performers.

Holiday Market

The holiday market begins at 3 p.m. Shop for holiday gifts and festive treats from plenty of local artisanal vendors. Family and friends can pose for free pictures with Santa, and enjoy a ride on the Chula Vista Express.

Beginning at 3:15 p.m. live music will take over the stage at Memorial Park.

Tree lighting

The official Christmas tree lighting ceremony is scheduled for 5:45 p.m. on the northeast corner of Memorial Park.
