SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - In Bakersfield Saturday, nearly a thousand people, including many from San Diego, paid their final respects to a brother and sister who were murdered in Coronado on New Year's Day.
25-year-old David Reis and his sister, 24-year old Karen, were shot and killed at a condo in Coronado last Sunday.
The San Diego County Sheriff's Department says the siblings, along with 31-year old Matt Saturley, were gunned down by David Reis' roommate, Bob Reeves.
Reeves later killed himself.
During Saturday's funeral, loved ones spoke of the special bond David and Karen shared.
"The family wanted in every respect to have them stay together. That's why they were transported from San Diego together, back up here to Bakersfield."
"It was unlike many brother/sister relationships. They were very close to one another."
Both David Reis and Bob Reeves were training as fighter pilots at MCAS Miramar.
