Miley Cyrus Concert Tour Using All Paperless Tickets

Miley Cyrus Concert Tour Using All Paperless Tickets
The next time you buy a concert ticket, you may not actually get a ticket. Ticketmaster is going paperless, which could mean less convenience and more delays the night of the event.

Miley Cyrus is promoting her latest concert tour as a paperless event, meaning fans will no longer be able to buy actual tickets.

Hannah Montana is not alone. When AC/DC plays at the Sports Arena in September, about 4,000 of the best seats will be paperless.

Here's how it works: Concertgoers use a credit card to buy tickets online. On the night of the concert they are required to bring that same credit card. The credit card is swiped, a receipt is printed out and then you enter the concert.

Paperless concerts are intended to discourage ticket scalping, but not everybody likes the idea.

"I save all my concert tickets, so it's important to me to actually have a physical ticket," a concertgoer said.

Atlas Tickets owner Vincent Campise says paperless tickets cause delays at the gates, and because you have to bring your credit card to get in, you can't give the tickets away.

"Our customers buy tickets for incentives, for sales, gifts, weddings and give them away. Because of paperless tickets, they can't do that," Campise said.

Ticketmaster did not return calls for an interview.

There are some concerns that Ticketmaster is trying to corner the market by going paperless.

"When they put no tickets in the marketplace, we'll have an artificial market and people will be asking crazy prices because they have no competition," Campise said.

Miley Cyrus concert tickets go on sale this Saturday, but you will have to drive to Los Angeles because she is not playing in San Diego. Don't forget your credit card, or you won't be able to get in.
