SAN DIEGO COUNTY, Calif. — The San Diego County Sheriff's Department has identified the 17-year-old victim of a shooting in San Marcos last week, according to a Tuesday press release.
San Marcos resident Isaac Shekhayem died after being shot in the upper torso May 15.
The Sheriff's Department is still investigating the shooting as a homicide. Deputies do not have suspect information.
The fatal shooting occurred in a parking lot in the 900 block of Los Vallecitos Boulevard, just west of the San Marcos Boulevard off-ramp of state Route 78, at about 11:30 p.m. May 15, according to the Sheriff's Department.
While in the parking lot, an unknown car pulled over, and a suspect got out of the car and fired several rounds toward the group.
The department received the report from a Palomar Medical Center Escondido staff member, who reported Shekhayem had been taken into the emergency room by two companions with a gunshot wound to his upper body.
Shekhayem died at the hospital.
An autopsy completed May 17 said the preliminary cause of death was a gunshot wound, and the manner of death was a homicide.
