SANTEE, Calif. — It’s official: Trader Joe’s is coming to Santee.
CBS 8 learned on Friday that the beloved grocery store, Trader Joe’s, has plans in the works to open up a new San Diego County location in the community of Santee.
A spokesperson for Trader Joe’s told CBS 8 that the company working on a brand new store in Santee, but did not share the location.
Any official announcements and details, including location, will be shared a few months before the grocery store opens its doors, the Trader Joe’s spokesperson confirmed.

In Oct., multiple Santee residents told us that they would love to see Trader Joe’s take over the vacant Best Buy that has sat empty for years.
“How can you keep a building that rents for tens of thousands of dollars every month and empty for two years? Boy I tell ya, Trader Joe's is the answer,” said Tad Henrickson, Santee resident.
“We are really hoping for something like a Trader Joe's. I feel like it might be some sort of grocery store, makes sense for the building,” said Anna Shinabarger.
