SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A San Diego State student is a big winner after appearing on "The Price is Right."
Sophomore Ryan Hunter won more than $57,000 in prizes plus a Land Rover during a December 5 taping. It all started with the words "Come on down!"
Hunter watched himself on television for the first time Tuesday on CBS 8 with his Phi Kappa Theta fraternity brothers. He credits his frat brothers for helping his winning streak by flashing him the winning numbers with hand signals. In fact, one of Hunter's fraternity brothers was on the show three years ago and knew the exact price of one of the prizes.
In the end, Hunter edged out his opponent by $1,400 to win the Showcase Showdown.
Hunter, a business major, will have to put those skills to the test. He plans on selling the Land Rover, settling up with the IRS and pocketing the balance.
