EL CAJON (CNS) - The two-day "Wings Over Gillespie" air show begins Saturday, offering rides aboard a B-17 bomber and displays by Navy SEALS.
The 16th annual show is really an ode to vintage aircraft, with numerous World War II aircraft on display. Among the planes scheduled to fly are a Grumman F4F Wildcat, a mainstay Navy fighter during the war; an F6F Hellcat, its successor; an SBD Dauntless dive bomber and a TBM Avenger, the Navy's torpedo bomber in the last couple years of the fighting.
The usually reclusive Navy SEALS will be on hand with a display of their equipment.
Gates at Gillespie Field open at 9 a.m. both days, and the show begins at 10 a.m. with a flyover by modern F-18 fighter jets.
The show is presented by Air Group One of the Commemorative Air Force.
