SAN DIEGO — Regina Yurrita is a Multiskilled Journalist for CBS 8 in San Diego, California.
Regina Yurrita was born and raised in Los Angeles.
Since a young age Regina knew she wanted to be in news, in high school she started writing for the newspaper and only imagined herself working for a local newspaper. Once she attended Cal State Fullerton, Regina was introduced to several on-air classes and quickly developed a passion for TV news.
During her college years she was an anchor for the English and Spanish newscast, where she was also an producer.
Regina earned a student Emmy for a border project that she also anchored and helped produce.
Her career started with NBC Palm Springs and Univision where she was a bilingual multi skilled journalist and a weekend anchor for NBC Palm Springs. She would report on stories mainly affecting the unincorporated areas of the eastern Coachella Valley in English and Spanish. Some of those stories were issues surrounding the Salton Sea, immigrant farm workers and .
After two years of informing the public in the desert, Regina earned her big jump to San Diego with CBS 8 as a reporter. Her dream has always been to live in sunny San Diego near the beautiful beaches. However, one of the biggest reasons why she chose to move to San Diego as a local reporter is because she wants to continue reporting for the unincorporated areas close to the border.
When she is not working, Regina is usually at the beach, eating Sushi or drinking coffee. She loves dancing and loves listening to country and Latin music. Her favorite animal are horses, but she’s afraid of dogs—yes she knows that sounds odd.
