What a day Sunday will be for the royals!
Not only will the royal family be out for Easter services, but April 19 is also Queen Elizabeth II's birthday.
The United Kingdom's queen will be turning 93, and what a life she has led! Born Elizabeth Alexandra Mary of the House of Windsor, she went from heiress presumptive to the leader of the Commonwealth in less than 20 years. She would go on to become Britain's longest-living and longest-reigning monarch, as well as the world's longest-reigning queen regnant and female head of state. Her reign has included 12 British prime ministers, seven archbishops of Canterbury, seven popes and 11 U.S. presidents elected (she has met with all of them except for Lyndon B. Johnson).
The monarch not only presides over the U.K. and the commonwealths but also a very large family. She is mother to four children, Prince Charles, Prince Andrew, Princess Anne and Prince Edward, eight grandchildren, including Prince William and Prince Harry, and seven great-grandchildren, with an eighth on the way, as Harry's wife, Meghan Markle, is due any day now.
Queen Elizabeth has been a stalwart and healing force during family tragedies, as well as a bright light on happy occasions, like the beloved Trooping the Colour parades, which is the official annual celebration of her birthday in June. And we can't forget about her beloved corgis and dorgis, a breed of which she's had dozens of since childhood, as well as a couple of terriers.
