LA MESA, Calif. —
Friday is opening day of the La Mesa Oktoberfest. Cold beer and warm pretzels make for the biggest Oktoberfest west of the Mississippi. Outside of the tents, there are plenty of events like wiener dog racing and even a sausage-throwing contest.
The festival goes through Sunday, Oct. 6, and is free for all ages.
The festival is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. The Main entrance is on La Mesa Blvd and Spring Street.
