A new supernatural crime drama from the creators of “The Good Wife” and “The Good Fight” is set to premiere Thursday night on CBS. "Evil” will explore aspects of criminality mixed with mysterious occurrences.
The show stars "Westworld" alum Katja Herbers as forensic psychologist Kristen Bouchard along with Mike Colter – best known for playing the title role in Marvel’s “Luke Cage” – who plays priest-in-training David Acosta. Bouchard is hired by the Catholic church to work with Acosta and contractor Ben Shakir (played by Aasif Mandvi - a former correspondent on “The Daily Show”) to determine whether a serial killer is possessed by a demon or simply a psychopath.
Though Bouchard is skeptical of such things as miracle and hauntings, she finds she has a knack for the work and is asked to join Acosta’s team in the series premiere. Together the unlikely trio sets out to investigate inexplicable events and determine whether there is a logical explanation or something supernatural at work in each case.
The Hollywood Reporter calls “Evil” a “must-see” of fall TV describing it as “an interesting blend of spiritual procedural, legal drama, supernatural thriller and dark, dark comedy.”
Other cast members include Michael Emerson (“Lost,” “Person of Interest”), Christine Lahti (“Chicago Hope,” “The Blacklist”), and Kurt Fuller (“Psych”).
“Evil” premieres at 10 p.m. Thursday on CBS.
