San Diego's Restaurant Week gets underway with over 100 restaurants participating

More than 100 local restaurants have special menus, many at a discount, for brunch, lunch, and dinner.

SAN DIEGO — San Diego Restaurant Week is officially underway.

More than 100 local restaurants have special menus, many at a discount, for brunch, lunch, and dinner.

Whether you’re looking for budget-friendly options or just looking for a new place to try – San Diego Restaurant Week offers an array of dishes throughout San Diego County.

Participating restaurants are offering dynamic dining experiences and multi-course meals at any price point starting at just $20, depending on the restaurant.

“It’s a really great way to go around and find your next favorite restaurant," said spokesperson Haleigh Stewart.

In North Park, One Door North is serving up authentic dishes.

“It’s a time to go out and try restaurants that maybe you haven’t tried before. It’s a great time for us to meet new people," said owner Tammy Piehl.

Piehl, who also owns the Smoking Goat Restaurant, said both eateries are offering fixed–price menus for restaurant week.

“It is three courses, so it is a lot of food but it’s really enjoyable. You have some options there," she added.

At One Door North, a three-course meal is typically over $60, but their restaurant week menu starts at just $40 per person. You can even add a refreshing craft cocktail to go along with the meal.

The Smoking Goat offers a $55 per person menu, which includes their award-winning duck fat truffle fries, considered to be the best fries in California, according to LoveFood.

“It’s a really great way to dine out at a bargain. So you’ll be getting three, four, five course meals for 30-40 bucks. So, it’s a really great way to try out those restaurants that you would really like to try but maybe you haven’t been able to in the past just because of pricing," said Stewart.

Restaurant week isn’t just only about the food, it’s also an opportunity to explore and support local eateries.

“A really big proponent of San Diego restaurant week is the community building as well. So, everything that we do is to get folks back into restaurants, get into your local communities, support those local restaurants that are owned by your neighbors and friends and family," added Stewart.

While tickets are not required, reservations are strongly recommended to secure a spot at any of the dining destinations.

Restaurant week lasts until next Sunday, March 10.
