Find unique holiday gifts this Small Business Saturday

Small Business Saturday is the Saturday after Black Friday and before Cyber Monday. It encourages shopping local and supporting small businesses during the holidays.

CHULA VISTA, Calif. — Right between Black Friday and Cyber Monday is Small Business Saturday. It's a good time to shop local, support the community and find that perfect unique gift.

Small businesses line Third Avenue in Chula Vista, inviting you in for some holiday shopping. One of those stores is El Cholo's Kid, selling unique hand-woven bags.

Along with colorful purses, owner Daisy Romero also sells items from local vendors and artists in her store.

"It's a little chain reaction of artists that you support when you shop at little gift shops and you shop locally," Romero said.

She's offering 25% off this entire weekend for the small business shopping holiday.

"When you shop locally and you kind of curate and really go by somebody's personality, or you see something that really calls to you when you think of someone, I think that's kind of like the beauty of shopping in person," Romero said.

Right next door to El Cholo's Kid is Craft on Third

"People can make blankets and gift them to people," Employee Angel Nunez said.

You can gift homemade items made by you, or gift an experience and come to one of their craft workshops.

"We offer cupcake decorating, cookie decorating, plant workshops," Nunez said. "Our chunky blankets, which is the most popular class that we have here."

A little farther down Third Ave is My Cup of Tea Unique Gifts, and the shop certainly lives up to its name.

"We definitely have unique gifts," Owner Janet Goff said.

From more than 100 loose teas to items hand-sewn by her and her daughter, Goff has it all in her store.

"We have lots of odds and ends, coasters, bowl koozies for when you're taking a hot bowl of soup," she said.

She also offered 25% off on Small Business Saturday.

"I just know that when I'm looking for something special, I usually want to find it in a small shop," Goff said.
