SAN DIEGO — The coronavirus pandemic continues to take its toll on San Diego businesses.
“It just brought business to a screeching halt and understandably, so people are trying to stay safe out there. The reality is it’s really hard for businesses right now,” said Tom Logsdon, the owner of the Balboa Bar and Grill.
Unfortunately, on Tuesday he closed up shop at his Banker’s Hill location due to lack of business and ongoing regulations.
“Without having our inside area open, it’s just not the same business," said Logsdon.
The Balboa Bar and Grill added to a list of San Diego restaurants that have closed.
“It’s a reality, staying up-to-date with all the regulations and recommendations and we’re obviously going through this second wave,” he said.
Those that have been able to survive have typically turned to outdoor seating.
“I can understand it as a public safety and health point of view but as a business owner, it makes it pretty much impossible to survive,” Logsdon said.
Still, Logsdon knows he’s not the only one toughing it out.
His customers are, too.
The Balboa South remains open in Chula Vista. It has outdoor seating and makes accommodations.
