SAN DIEGO — If you were hoping for some summer relief with your San Diego Gas & Electric bill, you're in luck.
The utility said Friday that customers will see a $34.60 monthly bill reduction -- for both August and September -- totaling $69.20.
The reason? Industries that emit greenhouse gases are required to buy carbon pollution permits.
Typically, this credit is issued in April and October, but SDG&E petitioned the California Public Utilities Commission to change the timing because of the summer spike associated with electricity bills.
According to the utility, the credit is automatic, too, so no action is required on the customer side.
