SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 8 Sunday sent three people to hospitals and snarled eastbound traffic near Mission Gorge Road, authorities said.
The crash involved up to six vehicles, including a Honda Pilot, a blue hatchback and a black truck or SUV, and was reported about 2:45 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
One person who sustained "acute trauma" in the crash and one with lesser injuries were taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital, a San Diego Fire-Rescue Department dispatcher said. Another injured person was taken to Scripps Mercy Hospital, she said.
Three others who were involved in the crash declined to be taken to a hospital, the dispatcher said.
The crash was blocking the left lane and a SigAlert was issued, officials with the CHP said. Eastbound traffic was backed up to Interstate 15.
