SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Nine minors were arrested during a curfew sweep in the East County overnight.
It was all part of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department's Holiday Watch program. Fifteen detectives took part in the operation in Rancho San Diego, Lemon Grove, Spring Valley and unincorporated areas of La Mesa and El Cajon.
"What we went to convey to the teenagers is we don't want them to be involved in criminal activity which could in essence cause a criminal record for them that they don't want, and also prevent them from being victims of crimes," Sgt. Ron Edwards said.
Minors found in violation of curfew must complete a program that involves taking a class about the law, writing an essay about the arrest and completing 10 hours of community service.
