ENCINITAS (CBS 8) - There is one restaurant along the 101 that is definitely worth a visit. If you are in the mood for some real Italian, you should make your way to Vigilucci's Trattoria.
Vigilucci’s Restaurant Group is San Diego-based and has several restaurants throughout the county. The group has been a local favorite and has prided itself in preparing authentic, high quality Italian food for over 20 years.
Vigilucci’s Trattoria in Encinitas was the first restaurant of the group to open.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is elegant, yet also has a laid back vibe to welcome the local Encinitan. During your meal, you can listen to the live piano bar while you enjoy a nice glass of wine.
However, we need to discuss the food. YES. Here, the food is actually quite good and always has me coming back to satisfy that carbo craving. Try the lasagna - you will not be disappointed.
Another standout dish is the Tortellini. There is only one Tortellini offered so you can't miss it. The pasta is stuffed with Mary’s Free Range Chicken and is tastefully decorated with a creamy, brandy and sage sauce and then sprinkled with chopped walnuts. You might be thinking walnuts? But, yes walnuts, and the nuts compliment the sauce quite nicely. So, try the tortellini; you cannot go wrong with this option.
Vigilucci’s is open daily and lunch is served on the weekend.
