ABC suspends Oceanside business's liquor license

An Oceanside businesses alcohol license is being suspended after an investigation into illegal drug sales.

OCEANSIDE (CBS 8) - A popular Oceanside restaurant has had its liquor license suspended after an employee was caught selling drugs.

Davina's Cabo Grill and Cantina is on probation for 20 days. The Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control says an employee sold methamphetamine and bath salts to an undercover agent last March.

"Licensees are responsible for everything that happens on their license premises, and so when we see a pattern of something such as narcotics sales its not just a one-time thing. We're doing this three times -- that shows a pattern that somebody conducting an illegal business out of their restaurant," Melissa Ryan of ABC said.

The general manager of Davina's says the employee was immediately fired when the restaurant learned of the investigation. He says the drug sales did not take place inside the restaurant, and no other staff members were involved.
