SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - City and community leaders celebrated the grand re-opening of Colina Del Sol Community Park in City Heights Thursday.
Almost $1 million in improvements were made to the park to make it more accessible to seniors and the disabled.
The work includes an access ramp that makes it easier to get to the park's rec center.
Officials say the improvements will serve the community for years to come.
"We're all going to get old one day, so we have to make it possible so that we can join in and come in and still come out and do recreation ourselves as well," Sidney Michaels of the City Heights Community Board of Directors said.
The improvements took about a year and a half to complete.
