NATIONAL CITY (CNS) - Fire heavily damaged a recently renovated 30-year-old National City market early Tuesday but no one was hurt.
The noninjury fire at Big Ben Market at 108 E. Eighth St. was reported at 12:46 a.m., according to a San Diego fire-rescue dispatcher, who said crews had flames knocked down about 45 minutes later.
A damage estimate was pending and the cause was under investigation, he said.
The market's owner told News 8 that he recently spent $800,000 on renovating the 30-year-old business.
