SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A jetliner believed to have struck at least one bird in flight made a safe emergency landing at Lindbergh Field Monday evening.
The pilots of the commercial aircraft reported the impact to emergency personnel shortly before 5 p.m., according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
The plane touched down safely at the bayside airport about 5:15 p.m., a dispatcher said. No injuries were reported.
Such in flight collisions with wildlife can cause aviation accidents and have killed more than 250 people since 1988, according to Bird Strike Committee USA.
