WHITTIER (CNS) - About three acres of brush were burning Thursday in Whittier, but no structures were threatened, authorities said.
Firefighters were sent to the area of Mar Vista Street and Colima Road about 10:10 a.m., said county fire Capt. Keith Mora.
After about an hour, the fire had grown from a half acre to three acres, and was considered 10 percent contained, the fire department reported.
Reports from the scene indicated that the flames jumped a fire road, and the fire was burning uphill in a canyon.
