SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - What a way for students to study -- on the seas.
The California Maritime Academy's training ship docked in San Diego Wednesday.
Students have been sailing aboard the 500-foot Golden Bear for two months now. They've visited several ports including Honolulu, Saipan and Guam.
During the voyage, the students take classes and are also largely responsible for the day-to-day running of the ship.
"Daywork, shipboard maintenance, classroom time to learn navigation, which includes radar," Third Class Cadet Cole Manders said.
The ship will leave San Diego on August 23 and return to Cal Maritime's Vallejo campus.
