VISTA (CBS 8) - The case of two Border Patrol agents accused of committing lewd acts in public acts has gone to the jury.
Both the prosecution and defense delivered closing arguments Thursday in the case against Kallie Helwig and Gerald Torello.
On the stand Wednesday, both Helwig and Torello denied groping each other and performing sex acts during a Cirque du Soleil performance at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. But in court Thursday, prosecutors told the jury that the testimony wasn't true.
"It's not comfortable to say, in our community, that two people could come up here and lie to you on the stand, but that's what happened," prosecutor Tracy Prior said.
If convicted, Torello and Helwig could face up to a year in jail.
