SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 75-year-old man who suffered a heart attack while aboard a cruise ship off San Diego was airlifted to shore and transferred to a hospital, authorities said Saturday.
The Coast Guard received word at 10:53 p.m. Friday that a passenger was having a medical emergency aboard Holland America Line's cruise ship Westerdam, which was 15 miles off Mission Bay, said Operations Controller Mark Mutchler.
A helicopter was dispatched and both the patient and ship's nurse were hoisted from the liner and taken to Coast Guard Sector San Diego.
The man's condition was not available.
