SAN DIEGO — CBS 8 is working with the American Red Cross and SDSU for the 8th annual ”Aztecs for Life Blood Drive” on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at Viejas Arena. The blood collected at the drive will help treat cancer patients, trauma victims, surgery patients, and others requiring blood transfusions in our area.
Hailed as the largest annual collegiate blood drive in the state, “Aztecs for Life” will take place from 9 am to 6 pm at Viejas Arena on the campus of San Diego State University. As a thank you, those who come to donate will receive a free t-shirt and a $10 gift card by email.

2023 Event Recap
The 7th annual Aztecs for Life blood drive was a success in 2023, but you can still help! There’s an urgent need for blood of all types in San Diego and to find a Red Cross drive near you, just go to www.redcrossblood.org and enter your zip code to make an appointment.
This drive is the largest one-day collegiate blood drive in California with the goal is to collect more than 350 blood donations which could save more than 1,000 people. Those who donate will receive a free shirt and an exclusive pair of Elf and Red Cross socks.

Thank you San Diego! Because of you the Aztecs for Life Blood Drive with CBS 8, The CW San Diego, SDSU and the Red Cross had a fantastic turnout at the November event.
The 2022 drive collected a total of 339 units of blood which can help save the lives up more than 1,000 people in need!
However, there is still a critical need for blood in our community and there are many other opportunities to schedule an appointment to donate.
Blood drives are an essential service providing a medical necessity to hospital patients. Donors of all blood types are urged to help overcome an emergency blood shortage.

The "Aztecs for Life" Blood Drive was a success in November 2021!
CBS 8, The CW San Diego, SDSU and the Red Cross teamed up to bring you the largest blood drive in the state of California on November 16, 2021!
Due to the overwhelming support of the San Diego community, all reservations were booked for the "Aztecs for Life" blood drive at Viejas Arena on the campus of SDSU.
Just because this current blood drive was at capacity, there is still a shortage of blood in our community and there are many other opportunities to schedule an appointment to donate.
