SAN DIEGO — One of San Diego County’s leading hunger relief organizations, Feeding San Diego, celebrated the opening of its new Feeding San Diego Marketplace.
Supporters gathered in front of the newly expanded marketplace to hold its official ribbon cutting on Thursday.
The Feeding San Diego Marketplace, located at 9477 Waples St. Ste. 100 in Sorrento Valley will be open four days a week, serving nutritious groceries at no-cost to San Diego residents facing food insecurity.
San Diego County community members can shop at the Marketplace once a month at no cost.
The Marketplace
- Open four days a week, Tuesday-Friday starting at 9 a.m.
- The Marketplace originally opened in 2022, and was recently expanded, reaching nearly double its original size.
- Nearly 90% of the food is rescued food, meaning it was surplus that would have gone to waste
- Food sourced from local and national donors
- Everything from fresh produce to pantry staples available for shoppers
- New indoor waiting room
- Almost entirely operated by volunteers
