SAN DIEGO — San Diego police are searching for suspects involved in a City Heights shooting that left one man dead Sunday night.
Officers with the San Diego Police Department were dispatched to Altadena and Wightman Street intersection in the Chollas Creek neighborhood around 7:23 p.m. following reports of a shooting.
Authorities arrived on the scene and found a Hispanic adult man suffering from at least one gunshot wound, according to a Watch Commander on duty for SDPD.
The victim was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after, San Diego police said.
Video from OnScene.TV showed officers at the intersection where the crime occurred, a section of the roadway covered in blood and other personal belongings.
Officers have yet to identify any suspects publically, but a police helicopter and several additional law enforcement officers were called to the scene to search the area.
Authorities were last reported searching for a dark-colored vehicle that was seen driving away from the scene with a group of 2-3 Hispanic or white men in the car.
San Diego Police Department's Homicide Unit was called to investigate.
The cause of the shooting is under investigation.
