SAN DIEGO — All lanes on the southbound Interstate 15 in the Deer Springs area reopened Monday after a wrong-way driver crashed head-on into a semi-truck, California Highway Patrol said.
The collision happened around 1:30 a.m. just north of Lilac Road near State Route 76, CHP said. The pick-up driver was going northbound in the southbound lanes. Both drivers were not injured, according to CHP.
The wrong-way driver was given a sobriety test at the scene and was subsequently taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence. He sustained minor injuries, CHP said.
Several lanes had to be shut down for hours due to the cleanup. The incident is under investigation.
