SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 34-year-old man was fatally shot at an apartment complex in the Lincoln Park neighborhood and later died, a police homicide lieutenant said Wednesday.
Officers sent to the complex on Solola Avenue near 47th Street about 7:15 p.m. Tuesday found the man suffering from at least one gunshot wound, San Diego police Lt. Jorge Duran said. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died, according to the lieutenant.
Duran said the initial investigation indicated the victim was sitting in front of the apartment complex when he was shot. Witnesses reported seeing a man in dark clothing running from the scene westbound on Solola Avenue, he said.
The victim's name was withheld pending family notification.
Anyone with information on the shooting was asked to call the Homicide Unit at (619) 531-2293, or to contact Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
